TruTrade has been selected by the World Bank Disruptive Agricultural Technology Challenge in Kenya. This sees the Kenyan-based innovation as one of the first cohort of innovators to receive performance rewards, acceleration funding and mentoring to scale up. The award is made is under the One Million Farmer Initiative spearheaded by the World Bank Group, along with the Kenya Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, Fisheries and Irrigation and Korea-World Bank Partnership Facility; other investors are also coming on board. TruTrade’s entry came first in the Market Linkage segment.
Meanwhile, TruTrade has also been selected as one of 4 finalists in the category of Rural Transformation and Zero Hunger Challenge in the Mohammed bin Rashid Initiative for Global Prosperity.
The UAE-based challenge hosted a finals pitch event in mid-April, where TruTrade was one of four innovations pitching in its category. The winner – to be announced at a ceremony in June – will receive monetary prizes, mentorship, and access to global organisations, worth up to $250,000. Stay tuned here for updates!
